Information You Submit
A name, phone number, or address entered into a search form is sent to the third-party provider that supplies the results. San Francisco Residents Directory does not keep a copy of those search entries on its own servers. If you contact us, we receive the details in your message and use them to respond.
Information Collected Automatically
The hosting service may record routine server-log details such as IP address, browser type, pages visited, and time stamps. Those details are reviewed in aggregate to maintain the service and understand broad page use. Cookies or similar tools may be used for basic analytics or, where applicable, advertising measurement.
How the Data Is Used
Log and message information may help operate the service, resolve faults, measure traffic, and improve pages. Visitor lists are not sold, and individual user profiles are not built from this information.
External Records and Search Links
Links may lead to San Francisco County or California records portals, library collections, archives, and third-party search tools. The destination's privacy policy controls information entered there. Sponsored results are supplied by a separate company and are subject to that provider's practices.
Who May Receive It
Hosting and technical service providers may process server logs to support the service. Analytics or advertising partners may receive the automatic information described above. Disclosure may also occur when valid legal process requires it; otherwise, the information is not shared as a routine matter.
Protecting the Information
The service uses an encrypted connection, and logs are retained only for as long as the purposes above call for them. Because there are no accounts, this site does not hold a password or user profile for you.
Visitors Under 18
The service is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If a minor may have sent information, contact us so it can be reviewed and deleted.
Your California Privacy Choices
California's consumer privacy law, including the California Consumer Privacy Act provisions in California Civil Code §1798.100 et seq., may give covered consumers rights to know, correct, or delete personal information held by a covered business, along with certain opt-out choices. The Delete Act, California Civil Code §1798.99.80 et seq., established the state's DROP process for deletion requests sent to registered data brokers. These rights apply as the statutes provide and do not turn this reference into a government records custodian.
Because San Francisco Residents Directory keeps very little, a request usually involves checking the contact mailbox and applicable server logs, then removing information found there. Use the Contact page to ask. Deeds, assessment records, court files, voter records, and vital records held by San Francisco County or California offices are government records outside our control; correction, sealing, or access questions must go to the office that maintains the source.
Policy Changes
Revisions will be posted on this page. Continuing to use San Francisco Residents Directory after a revision indicates acceptance of the updated policy.
